Cindy Rueckert
In a tiny loft apartment of a renovated barn in upstate NY, Cindy decided to try yoga for the first time. There was no flow to the blocky set of postural instructions, and voice on the free app was notably robotic, but her body shook with the challenge of some standing balance poses. It was a different kind of hard.
Raised in a competitive athletic family, Cindy had over a decade of experience in a variety of sports. She knew how to push. She knew how to work. She knew how to fight. But after a slew of career ending injuries, she began to realize she didn’t know how to listen to her own body’s wisdom, how to ease off an edge, or how to find peace in stillness.
That was her first step onto the yogic path. Now a mother of three, she values the quiet solitude of her asana practice. She is grateful for the fresh movement her body can find, even after major accidents that limit other activity. But she finds her greatest comfort and deepest peace in the philosophy of yoga.
In addition to a 500-hr yoga teaching certificate, Cindy has her Masters degree in Therapeutic Recreation. The Latin root of recreation is recreare, which means renewal. In the cycle of life, our strengths change, as do our identities and roles. Each class with Cindy is an invitation to decompress your central nervous system and create yourself anew.
